Trailhead:
This Park is located on the West side of Colorado Springs. From I-25 take the Cimmaron Exit and head west on Cimmaron (Highway 24). Take the next left after the 31st street stoplight onto Ridge Road. Take the first left into a round-about. Take the main parking lot exit from the round about. The first parking lot on your left is the main one. You can drive a little further to another. There is also a parking lot on 31st street just South of the Cimmaron & 31st street intersection.

Summary:
There are many trails throughout Red Rocks Canyon Open Space. This land was privately owned for many years. There are still the remains of the main house, garage, and a couple of ponds. There once was a trailer park as well, but nearly all evidence of it has been removed. The owner originally planned to do a high-end housing development, however he died before his plans could come to fruition. His wife then made a deal with the city to turn the land into a park. Now everyone can enjoy this park for free due to her generous nature. Though not as instantly stunning as the Garden of the Gods this is the same rock structure and is wonderful to explore. One trail takes you through an old quarry that supplied rock for many of Colorado Springs historic buildings.

With a permit from the Garden of the Gods Visitor center rock climbing is permitted.

A picnic in the Park.

The walls of the canyon are impressive sandstone formations.
